Rethinking How We Set Goals

It's a new year and a fresh start! Now is the time to put the final touches on your 2026 goals for your business, teams and everyone in the company to get the right start next year.

If you're not sure where to start, go back to basics with SMART goals. Make your goals Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-Based!

Start with your VISION for what your company or your team will endeavor to achieve this year, and even in the next 3-5 years. This will help you identify the priorities for the next year, by working backward.

What will you need to do this year to set you up for success in the next few years?
What challenges or obstacles are in front of you? What resources do you need?
But also, what will be ROI for achieving these goals? Identify the benefits of investing the time, effort, resources, sometimes discomfort or sacrifice, the willingness to do th8ings differently and get out of your comfort zone. Focus on the reward and the gratification as you identify the challenges.

Remember that setting goals is a framework for the year. Setting goals is not a once a year exercise where you set out some lofty aspirations and check back in 11 months later to see if things magically happened. It's a living, breathing guide for how you focus your time and effort throughout the year. Goals change as circumstances change and business needs to pivot. Timing and resources may change. But the goals should always be there.

Keep your goals present this year! Keep your eyes on the prize in order to stay focused and you'll be more likely to achieve exponential results!

Cheers to a new year, new goals and reaching new levels of success!
